John is kind of almost every girl's dream boy. He's that good guy next door who's smart and funny yet insanely good looking. Huh, these next door boys only seem to exist in novels/fiction. If you usually read my reviews then you will also know that I am a big fan of bad boys but John... I couldn't help but love him too. Even though we didn't see him for much of this book, I was actually conflicted about which boy I wanted Lara Jean to end up with.
If you think about it, John must be a pretty awesome character because 1. you meet him very late in the book and yet I still ended up almost rooting for him 2. I knew Peter for a whole other book and yet I still felt conflicted 3. Peter is right up my alley for boys and yet I still really liked John 4. John is just amazing okay? Okay.
The conflicts in this book felt very real. As I've said before, everything with these books feels realistic. That means a lot of second hand awkwardess, haha. Sometimes Lara Jean was a little too clueless, like when Peter didn't seem to be happy to see her or when he didn't react to her saying something. She doesn't really realize people can mask their emotions. This series is fantastic and I'd recommend it to anyone willing to listen to things that I say. And Jenny? If you're reading this, well, first of all, I'm honored and secondly PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER BOOK WITH THESE CHARACTERS I LOVE THEM.
I'm giving this book a 9/10 stars for sheer fantastically awesomeness.
SPOILERS BELOW FOR P.S. I Still Love You
Ah, when Peter read the letter I was like YESS at the same time I felt SO much secondhand awkwardness. I totally laughed when Peter said "It's called playing hard to get." It'd been a while since I read the last book, but I easily jumped back into this series.
It was very emotional when I found out that Peter had made those fruitcake cookies. He'd said he mom had, ha, liar. That kind of effort is what I want from a boy.
Anonybitch is the gossip girl of this small town.
Haha, when Kitty talked about the TV shows she watched I laughed because that was totally me as a child. I watched a lot of things I shouldn't on TV. And just because my parent's banned me from watching shows such as Secret Life of an American Teenager and The Vampire Diaries when I was young doesn't mean I did.
That double standard on the video really pissed me off. People, please stop being sexist. The good thing from that video? Peter got so adorably protective. The secondhand embarrassment I felt was totally worth it. Though I felt bad for him because he couldn't do anything about it.
When Stormy said she had a grandson I was like IT IS JOHN. That was not a surprise. Was it meant to be?
I was glad to see that Josh was still in the story and he had not completely just disappeared. He is her next door neighbor, after all.
Then John's letter came. And it was really cute... I was still team Peter at this point.
A major second hand awkward moment? "I don't want to have sex with you in a car." Lara Jean! Sometimes honesty and no filter is not the way to go! You guys were not about to have sex!
That game of Assassin sounds really fun. I wish I could play it with my friends but since 1. it's summer so a bunch of us live a far walk away from each other that would just mean we'd see each other less 2. I don't think they'd really want to.
Even though I really liked John, I really didn't want Peter and Lara Jean to break up! I worked to hard for this relationship and I love it! Though, if Lara Jean really didn't trust Peter I'm not sure that was good in the relationship anyway...
I felt really bad for Peter after the break up but taking the necklace back was a really dick move. That was when we really got to know John. He's such a sweet heart. I honestly wasn't rooting for wither guy more than the other. Which is weird, because I almost always have a team I know I want to win.
"Will you help me take out Genevieve?"
"It would be my honor."
*SQUEAL*
If this wasn't obvious to y'all Peter was SO jealous when they ran into each other at the nursing home. "Is this a date? Are you on a date with him?" That made me squeal, too. I don't know why jealousy turns me on so much. I'm sure if it actually happened to me it'd piss me off more than turn me on. (Though I still would be a little flattered)
It was so cute how Kitty stood up for Lara Jean against Peter #sisterbond
I just want another book.....
