This is probably very old news for most of you, but I guess I've been living under a rock, so this post is for others who have also been under this rock. One of my all time favorite books-- To All The Boys I've Loved Before is being made into a movie, and I am so very excited about this.
This novel is a contemporary romance following Lara Jean Song, a girl who writes love letters to boys who she has very strong crushes on. There are 5 total, and once she's written them, they're thrown into a hat box, never to be thought of again. Until... One day the letters get sent out, and one of the recipients is the boy next door, Josh, who just recently got out of a very serious relationship with Lara Jean's older sister, Margot... Drama involving the recipients of the letters ensures.
This book is such a cute story. Its characters are just so honest and genuine, that they feel real. I connect very well with Lara Jean, and just really relate with her on so many different levels. She's such an innocent and naive protagonist, and the book is written in a way that you feel the embarrassing moments when they come along. And believe me, they come along, haha. The thing that sets this novel apart is its realism. The characters are real, therefore making the reading experience all the more enjoyable. But it's also just a very cute romance story. If you feel the need for a cute (EMPHASIS ON CUTE) feel good romance, To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han is the book for you. And guess what? If you fall in love with the characters like I did, you're in luck because there are two more books in the series. And they're not bad, or even remotely worse than the first, as the sequels to romances usually are. In fact, the series stays level in quality, each book remaining just as cute and genuine as its predecessors.
The movie is being made by Netflix, which is especially exciting because I CAN WATCH IT AS SOON AS IT COMES OUT. And I've heard the author is pretty happy with the movie... So hopefully it's good and sticks to the book's story. That's my biggest fear about the movie-- that it'll ruin one of my favorite books. (I'm also nervous that a ton of people will start talking about it like they're experts when I've loved this series for years... but that's just me being petty, haha. Good for the author for getting this publicity).
Anyway, I hope you're getting as hyped up as I am about this movie!

(Enjoy the trailer. I rewatch it multiple times a day aha)

Looking for a sweet book that will leave you in a sobbing puddle on the floor from the sheer adorablilty? Always and Forever, Lara Jean is the book for you. The third book in Jenny Han's addictively charming To All the Boys I've Loved Before trilogy, this book is sure to keep you enraptured in its cute, yet relatable story.
Three years ago, I was shopping around in Target and came upon a book with an impossibly adorable cover. I'd never heard of it, but I bought it just for the cover. Later that summer, I actually got around to reading the book. And I absolutely loved it. I found its protagonist, Lara Jean, to be relatable and easily sympathizable, and I found the conflict to be entertaining. I enjoyed the characters and the different relationships, and when I finished? I just started over again.
Then two years ago the second book, P.S. I Still Love You came out, and yep. Han still had the ability to hit very close to home with her writing and just, whack my heart to death. Is this a sad series? NO! Haha, I don't want to leave that impression of that at all, it's actually very cute and light. It just is so cute that it leaves me feeling very... wanting because I WANT BOYS AND A RELATIONSHIP LIKE THIS! Actually, who doesn't?
Anyway, my point in this little story is, if you haven't read the first two books yet, what are you doing? They're so cute and lovely there's no way you won't become as in love with this series as I am. All of them give you that warm, fuzzy, happy feeling because of their cuteness.  Also, don't continue reading this review because I'm about to start spoiling the first TWO books, so if you haven't read them yet, you should.
On to this book. OH MY GOD. This book was just as perfect as the last two. The characters are just so real. Except not, because Peter is too perfect for this world. Honestly, even from the first page and a half I was sucked into remembering how happy this series makes me. But seriously though, I'm not sure if I'd be able to find a more perfect modern day interest than Peter. He's a LAX BRO who's an actually nice guy. He sees when Lara Jean wants to leave parties and takes her home-- even if he doesn't want to leave. And he read a book series for her. HOW CAN--? Sorry. He's just too precious for this Earth.
I try not to go too much into my personal life in reviews, but I have to bring it up in this because I just have to. I relate so much to this series. Minus the part about letters being sent out and having boys fighting over me. Haha. See, Lara Jean's mother is dead, so's mine. And then, actually there's a ton of stuff, but I'll just bring up why the whole lax bro thing hit me so hard. There's this one guy that I have a thing for-- and he's a lax bro. In my school, lax bros think themselves a big thing, and they're kind of jerks. So Peter being a perfect boy and a lax bro? Ah. Swoon.
Anyway, back to the book. The characters are just so real, they all have their flaws and that just makes them all the more lovable. Not just the characters, though, the situations they're put in feels so real and relatable, too. So not only are these books the epitome of adorable and goals, they also feel like they could actually be obtainable, they're not just that romance book you read because it's a far off dream, they feel like they could actually happen (minus the part about the actually likable lax bro (and by likable I mean decent))
I was in kind of a book hangover after reading A Court of Wings and Ruin, and there is no better cure to a book hangover than one of the books in this series. You really can't help but fall completely in love with all the characters. It's just... I don't know why other word to describe it other than adorable. Everything is just adorable. And cute. And perfect in an imperfect way.
Alright, here's what I have to say to you if you've already read the first two books and are debating on whether or not to read the third-- WHY ARE YOU DEBATING AT ALL? PICK THIS BOOK UP IMMEDIATELY, it's so happy and adorable and perfect, I promise you won't regret it.
Anyway, here's the synopsis:

Lara Jean’s letter-writing days aren’t over in this surprise follow-up to the New York Times bestselling To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and P.S. I Still Love You.

Lara Jean is having the best senior year a girl could ever hope for. She is head over heels in love with her boyfriend, Peter; her dad’s finally getting remarried to their next door neighbor, Ms. Rothschild; and Margot’s coming home for the summer just in time for the wedding.

But change is looming on the horizon. And while Lara Jean is having fun and keeping busy helping plan her father’s wedding, she can’t ignore the big life decisions she has to make. Most pressingly, where she wants to go to college and what that means for her relationship with Peter. She watched her sister Margot go through these growing pains. Now Lara Jean’s the one who’ll be graduating high school and leaving for college and leaving her family—and possibly the boy she loves—behind.

When your heart and your head are saying two different things, which one should you listen to?

10/10 stars. This book is a piece of art, honestly. I don't think there will ever be a time that this series will ever not make me completely, blissfully happy while reading them (while also depressing me a little just because I'm single and bitter.)
Anyway, I hope you all read this one!

SPOILERS BELOW
Um. Well, here, I'll be honest with you, I actually read this book almost a month ago and don't have that much of a recollection of things that I actually wanted to discuss other than how perfect Peter is. He's perfect, anyone want to fight me on that? No one? Good. He's a lax bro who will leave parties early when it looks like his girlfriend is ready to go and HE READ A BOOK SERIES FOR HER. Do boys get any more perfect? Oh, and also he's in it for the long haul, not just for sex. Yeah, no. Boys do not get more perfect than that.
The college situation was one that did actually feel like a real one. There are no guarantees on anything when it comes to colleges.
Um. Oh, I really liked seeing John, even if it was for a split second because he's just also perfect, but in a different way from Peter. Funnily enough, I completely forgot about Josh until I went back and reread the first two books because he's hardly even mentioned in this book. Which is kind of sad, because it's a reminder that some people who are always in your life can cease to be in it at all.
The one little thing that I noticed but didn't necessarily have an issue with, just that I noticed was that all the books basically have the same thing with Peter and Lara in terms of relationship and breaking up. They break up (or something like that) near the end, and then at the very end they kind of get back together (they don't exactly get back together at the end of the first book, but it's alluded to.)

Anyway, thanks for reading this review. I'm sorry that it's choppy, I wrote the first half a month ago and didn't bother to reread it before writing more, so I'm sure I repeated myself a lot. Sorry.

Best Reads of 2015

12/21/2015

Can you believe 2015 is almost over? Wow, it's been quite the short year filled with many unexpected events. Anyway, I kinda of forgot to count slash keep track of every single book I read this year (That would be a difficult job) but I did manage to keep track of most of them on my Goodreads Reading Challenge, so I've compiled a list of my favorite {new} books I've read this year. I highly recommend each and every one of these books because they're great novels. Some of them aren't exactly in any order because I couldn't pick which one I liked best!
Picture
By far, though, my favorite book I read this year would have to have been Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas {Review Here}. The review in a nutshell, I freaking loved this book. The Throne of Glass Series (Queen of Shadows is book four) just keeps getting better and better. I don't see how the next book could possibly get an more fantastical than this, but I'm sure Sarah will be able to pull it off. I gave Queen of Shadows 10/10 stars, a rare rating from me, but THIS BOOK DESERVED IT. Full of nonstop action, mystery, suspense and a little bit of romance, this is the perfect book for me. I seriously cannot wait to see what Sarah has in store for the next (and last) two books of this series. (Which, by the way, is one of my all time favorite books and I highly recommend that you read it because it's sooooo amazing.)
The first book is not that good, I'll admit, but it just keeps getting better and better so even if you didn't really enjoy book 1, push on to book two, because it only gets more intriguing from there on out. Here's the synopsis for book one:
After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king's council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she'll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she's bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it's the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

Haha, back when the protagonist's biggest problem was a competition... Let me tell you, it definitely gets more intense and you never know what to expect with Sarah's books.

Alright, all the books after this aren't in any order because I couldn't decide what I liked better.

This next book I obtained and finished yesterday. And it met and exceeded my expectations which were pretty darn high. {Review should be up soon} I actually just started reading the Falling Kingdoms series this year. After reading the first book {Review here} I was not totally impressed- rating it 6.5/10 stars. It was okay, but I felt as though i was dragging my feet through most of the book. I only liked two of the main characters and really, I just didn't enjoy that book too much. Luckily, I decided I'd give the series another chance and order the second and third books. The second book I found much more interesting and started to feel a lot more invested in this spectacular series- rating it 7/10 stars but I still only liked two of the main characters. And then I read the third book- Gathering Darkness and it sucked me right into the world. (8/10 stars). While reading Gathering Darkness, I was surprised to find myself beginning to like one of the characters I'd previously despised. Hey, you know it's a well written story if you go from hating to tentatively starting to like a character. And then I read Frozen Tides yesterday. It was amazing. This series is full of action, betrayal, deceit, suspense and romance and this last book really brought out the most interesting sides of all the characters. And that one character I was tentatively starting to like?  I love his character now. This series is amazing and quickly working its way up to one of my favorites. The characters (well, most of them) are ones you'll grow quickly attached to and the plot is intriguing- you won't be able to tear your eyes away from the book. I highly recommend reading this series. Yeah, sure, the first book isn't so good, but it only goes up from there.

Synopsis for Book 1:
In the three kingdoms of Mytica, magic has long been forgotten. And while hard-won peace has reigned for centuries, a deadly unrest now simmers below the surface.

As the rulers of each kingdom grapple for power, the lives of their subjects are brutally transformed... and four key players, royals and rebels alike, find their fates forever intertwined. Cleo, Jonas, Lucia, and Magnus are caught in a dizzying world of treacherous betrayals, shocking murders, secret alliances, and even unforeseen love.

The only outcome that's certain is that kingdoms will fall. Who will emerge triumphant when all they know has collapsed?

It's the eve of war.... Choose your side.

Princess: Raised in pampered luxury, Cleo must now embark on a rough and treacherous journey into enemy territory in search of magic long thought extinct.

Rebel: Jonas, enraged at injustice, lashes out against the forces of oppression that have kept his country cruelly impoverished. To his shock, he finds himself the leader of a people's revolution centuries in the making.

Sorceress: Lucia, adopted at birth into the royal family, discovers the truth about her past—and the supernatural legacy she is destined to wield.

Heir: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, firstborn son Magnus begins to realise that the heart can be more lethal than the sword....

I'm giving Frozen Tides 8/10 stars. I absolutely loved it and hope y'all try this series out because it is fantastic.

Here's a romance for all y'all romance lovers out there. It's one of those cliches that I seriously love. The tom boy girl falling in love and not being quite sure how to handle her feelings. My absolute favorite thing about this book is that there's a very unexpected plot twist that happens in the story. The thing with romance books is you think you know who the protagonist is going to end up with (which I love but-) this book makes a complete 360 spin about halfway through. I loved that about it. I rated it 8.8/10 stars. {Review Here}
Here's the synopsis:
ONE OF THE BOYS

What girl doesn't want to be surrounded by gorgeous jocks day in and day out? Jordan Woods isn't just surrounded by hot guys, though-she leads them as the captain and quarterback of her high school football team. They all see her as one of the guys and that's just fine. As long as she gets her athletic scholarship to a powerhouse university.

But everything she's ever worked for is threatened when Ty Green moves to her school. Not only is he an amazing QB, but he's also amazingly hot. And for the first time, Jordan's feeling vulnerable. Can she keep her head in the game while her heart's on the line?

Here, I can tell you this. This series is one of my favorite romance book series ever. Seriously, each book in this series has a heart warming romance. I really think you all should read this excellent book.

Here's another one of Sarah J. Maas's books that were released this year. This is the start of a new book series she's writing, all of the books in it are going to be loosely based on a fairytale. A Court of Thorns and Roses is loosely based off of Beauty and the Beast. Key word loosely. The idea for 2/3 sounds slightly like Beauty and the Beast but the last bit of this book is very very very different. And also Sarah twists the story so much that it turns a lot darker than you would ever expect. I really loved this book. Sure, the beginning was a little slow, but I got really invested quite quickly. I gave this book 8/10 stars {Review Here} because it was suspenseful, witty, entertaining, full of action and there were quite a few plot twists. Sarah has an excellent style of writing and I fully plan to read the rest of this series as well as the Throne of Glass books.
Synopsis:
A thrilling, seductive new series from New York Timesbestselling author Sarah J. Maas, blending Beauty and the Beast with faerie lore.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it... or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

Better Off Friends was a book I put off reading for so long. But when I read it, I seriously regretted that. This book is seriously good. It follows a pair of friends, Macallan and Levi, through their lives as seventh graders and ends when they're seniors in high school. It's witty and adorable, answering the question Can girls and boys be just friends? This whole novel was so quirky and very lovable. I've reread it several times since the first time and I still haven't lost any of my adoration for this excellent story. In fact, I think my adulation has grown even more. This is such a cute story, please, please, read it. I guarantee you won't regret it.
I gave this novel... I'm realizing now that I was enjoying this story so much that when I reviewed it, I forgot to rate it, ahah. Well, here's my review.
Synopsis:
For Macallan and Levi, it was friends at first sight. Everyone says guys and girls can’t be just friends, but these two are. They hang out after school, share tons of inside jokes, their families are super close, and Levi even starts dating one of Macallan’s friends. They are platonic and happy that way.

Eventually they realize they’re best friends — which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep getting in each other’s way. Guys won’t ask Macallan out because they think she’s with Levi, and Levi spends too much time joking around with Macallan, and maybe not enough time with his date. They can’t help but wonder . . . are they more than friends or are they better off without making it even more complicated?

From romantic comedy superstar Elizabeth Eulberg comes a fresh, fun examination of a question for the ages: Can guys and girls ever really be just friends? Or are they always one fight away from not speaking again — and one kiss away from true love?

Picture
P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. I absolutely loved this book just as much as I loved the first- To All The Boys I've Loved Before. Filled with realistic cute and quirky scenes, there's nothing not to love about this adorable duology. {Reviews for both} This is really one of my favorite romance book series (along with Catching Jordan books and Anna and the French Kiss) and I just strongly reccomend this book to anyone who wants an adorable love story, of course, you gotta start out with book one first, but believe me when I say, book two is no disappointment.

Synopsis for To All the Boys I've Loved Before

What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them…all at once?

Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

And there you go, these books were my favorites among all of the fantastic stories I've read this year. I hope y'all had as good a year of reading as I did, and if you didn't, well in 2016 why not try some of these excellent books? *wink* *wink*
Here's the links to buy them if you're interested.

Updated Favorite/Highly RECOMMENDED contemporary Romance Books

10/13/2015

A month and some days later I finally make another post. I've been apologizing for not posting a lot lately. I'M SORRY! High School has been a lost busier than I thought it would be and I haven't gotten a lot of time to read in. And the books I have read, I don't have too much to say about them. So instead of writing a bunch of short and boring reviews, I decided to recommend some of my favorite contemporary romances to y'all. This is in no specific order, just the first ones I saw on my shelf. If you haven't read any of these, I highly recommend them all. They're amazing and make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
The first book / series I'm going to tell you about is the Hundred Oaks books by Miranda Kenneally. I read the first book in this series this... March? and absolutely fell in love with the writing, plot and characters and I just had to get the next books. This series isn't exactly a series, they're more companion novels but I suggest you read them in order because they are in chronological order and you'll be horribly spoiled if you skip a book. So don't!
The first book in this series is called Catching Jordan and the romance/characters in this book is definitely my favorite out of all of them but they are all spectacular. I've reviewed all of them, so after this post, feel free to check out my reviews. :) Here's the synopsis of Catching Jordan:

I actually just reread this book tonight and it is still as amazing as it was the first time I read it. The next book is called Stealing Parker and it's just as fun as the first book. Miranda has an excellent writing style and I really love how the books make me laugh and my heart squeeze from the sheer adorability. Also, with contemporaries, the endings don't usually surprise you, but the endings for these books might ;)

The next book I'm going to recommend is called To All the Boys I've Loved Before and it's by the fantastical author, Jenny Han. There is a sequel to this book- P.S. I Still Love You and it is just as quirky and fun as the first. I've reviewed both these books on my blog, too, so check them out if you're interested!
The thing I love the most about both these books is how realistic everything feels. Lara Jean's feelings are easily relatable and you can really feel for her. These books are as I said before quirky and fun reads and they sure are hilarious and adorable also. If you have the chance, I'd say you should really give these books a chance. You won't regret it.
Summery:
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

I still really love the Anna and the French Kiss Series by Stephanie Perkins. And I still highly recommend them. And yes, I did review them so check it out if you want to. Actually I think it's just one. Yeah, the ending is no surprise in these books but the ride and journey to the end is what makes the end just so great. I absolutely love the relationships in these books and you really feel an attachment to these well written characters. After reading Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door and Isla and the Happily Ever After, your heart will ache for a romance like theirs. Now, like the Catching Jordan books/ Hundred Oaks series, these books are technically companion novels, but if you read them out of order, you'll be spoiled SO DON'T DO IT.
Synopsis:
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?
Picture
I really love Kasie West's books. These are my two favorites of her works. (does that sentence make sense? Yeah? No? Okay) These two books contain no spoilers for the others so you can read either one before the other. Both are fantastical so I suggest you read both and then Kasie West's other three books because all of them are just amazing.
Oh and yes, I did review both these books on this very blog so...
On the Fence:

For sixteen-year-old Charlotte Reynolds, aka Charlie, being raised by a single dad and three older brothers has its perks. She can outrun, outscore, and outwit every boy she knows—including her longtime neighbor and honorary fourth brother, Braden. But when it comes to being a girl, Charlie doesn't know the first thing about anything. So when she starts working at chichi boutique to pay off a speeding ticket, she finds herself in a strange new world of makeup, lacy skirts, and BeDazzlers. Even stranger, she's spending time with a boy who has never seen her tear it up in a pickup game.

To cope with the stress of faking her way through this new reality, Charlie seeks late-night refuge in her backyard, talking out her problems with Braden by the fence that separates them. But their Fence Chats can't solve Charlie's biggest problem: she's falling for Braden. Hard. She knows what it means to go for the win, but if spilling her secret means losing him for good, the stakes just got too high.

Fill-in Boyfriend:

When Gia Montgomery's boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she'd been telling her friends about him for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend—two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The problem is that days after prom, it's not the real Bradley she's thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn't even know. But tracking him down doesn't mean they're done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend's graduation party—three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

Just when Gia begins to wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to destroy her friendships and her new-found relationship.

Another great two contemporary books are My Life with the Walter Boys and The Heartbreakers by Ali Novak. Both of these books were first published on Wattpad but there's a difference between the online version of the books and the published version, so I recommend you read both. Though, if you can't, it's okay to just read one of them. Both books are super fun to read. You'll find yourself laughing a bunch while reading them and having your heart ache for the gorgeous guys these stories contain.
PS: I have reviews on these books too
My Life With the Walter Boys:
My Life with the Walter Boys centers on the prim, proper, and always perfect Jackie Howard. When her world is turned upside down by tragedy, Jackie must learn to cut loose and be part of a family again.

Jackie does not like surprises. Chaos is the enemy! The best way to get her successful, busy parents to notice her is to be perfect. The perfect look, the perfect grades-the perfect daughter. And then...

Surprise #1: Jackie's family dies in a freak car accident.

Surprise #2: Jackie has to move cross-country to live with the Walters-her new guardians.

Surprise #3: The Walters have twelve sons. (Well, eleven, but Parker acts like a boy anyway)

Now Jackie must trade in her Type A personality and New York City apartment for a Colorado ranch and all the wild Walter boys who come with it. Jackie is surrounded by the enemy-loud, dirty, annoying boys who have no concept of personal space. Okay, several of the oldest guys are flat-out gorgeous. But still annoying. She's not stuck-up or boring-no matter what they say. But proving it is another matter. How can she fit in and move on when she needs to keep her parents' memory alive by living up to the promise of perfect
The Heartbreakers:
"When I met Oliver Perry, I had no clue he was the lead singer for The Heartbreakers. And he had no idea that I was the only girl in the world who hated his music."
Stella will do anything for her sick sister, Cara—even stand in line for an autographed Heartbreakers CD...for four hours. She's totally winning best birthday gift this year. At least she met a cute boy with soft brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes while getting her caffeine fix. Too bad she'll never see him again.
Except, Stella's life has suddenly turned into a cheesy love song. Because Starbucks Boy is Oliver Perry – lead singer for the Heartbreakers. And even after she calls his music crap, Oliver still gives Stella his phone number. And whispers quotes from her favorite Disney movie in her ear. OMG, what is her life?
But how can Stella even think about being with Oliver — dating and laughing and pulling pranks with the band — when her sister could be dying of cancer?
Ali Novak wrote her debut novel My Life with the Walter Boys when she was just 15 years old, and has since penned her next book, The Heartbreakers. First a hit on the online community Wattpad, her second novel has over 38 million reads and is loved by readers around the world.

And my last contemporary romance to recommend y'all is Better Off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg. It's a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. I do believe it's my most recent favorite romance and I really regret taking so long to read it. The friendship between Levi and Macallan in this books is #goals but would their romantic relationship be similar? Read the book to find out. Oh, by the way, I do have a review on this spectacular book, too.
Summery:

Please! Read these books so I have someone to talk to about them! Actually just read them because they're great books and I think you'd really enjoy them. Have any good contemporaries I didn't talk about? Feel free to leave comments on some of your favorite romances :)

P.S. I Still Love You By Jenny Han

I loved the first book in this series. This book was not a disappointment. With cuteness and romance levels that makes the cuteness and romance charts explode I can honestly say I loved this book. It had plenty of humor in it, too. Jenny Han really did a great job on this marvelous novel. It was a very fun read. Lara Jean is a very realistic protagonist who feels things in a very human way and is very relatable. She's so sweet, I love it. Her and Peter's relationship is something to envy. Peter really is a realistic guy with real faults, but he tries which is what counts. All the people and situations in this book are realistic, like Jenny could just be recording a real person's life. I loved that. I knew that John would return in this novel and he'd be competition for Lara Jean's heart. Now, if you read my other review of To All the Boys I've Loved Before, you'd know I LOVE Peter. So, I was pretty sure that I would hate John... That was not what happened.
John is kind of almost every girl's dream boy. He's that good guy next door who's smart and funny yet insanely good looking. Huh, these next door boys only seem to exist in novels/fiction. If you usually read my reviews then you will also know that I am a big fan of bad boys but John... I couldn't help but love him too. Even though we didn't see him for much of this book, I was actually conflicted about which boy I wanted Lara Jean to end up with.
If you think about it, John must be a pretty awesome character because 1. you meet him very late in the book and yet I still ended up almost rooting for him 2. I knew Peter for a whole other book and yet I still felt conflicted 3. Peter is right up my alley for boys and yet I still really liked John 4. John is just amazing okay? Okay.
The conflicts in this book felt very real. As I've said before, everything with these books feels realistic. That means a lot of second hand awkwardess, haha.  Sometimes Lara Jean was a little too clueless, like when Peter didn't seem to be happy to see her or when he didn't react to her saying something. She doesn't really realize people can mask their emotions. This series is fantastic and I'd recommend it to anyone willing to listen to things that I say. And Jenny? If you're reading this, well, first of all, I'm honored and secondly PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER BOOK WITH THESE CHARACTERS I LOVE THEM.
I'm giving this book a 9/10 stars for sheer fantastically awesomeness.

SPOILERS BELOW FOR P.S. I Still Love You

Ah, when Peter read the letter I was like YESS at the same time I felt SO much secondhand awkwardness. I totally laughed when Peter said "It's called playing hard to get." It'd been a while since I read the last book, but I easily jumped back into this series.
It was very emotional when I found out that Peter had made those fruitcake cookies. He'd said he mom had, ha, liar. That kind of effort is what I want from a  boy.
Anonybitch is the gossip girl of this small town.
Haha, when Kitty talked about the TV shows she watched I laughed because that was totally me as a child. I watched a lot of things I shouldn't on TV. And just because my parent's banned me from watching shows such as Secret Life of an American Teenager and The Vampire Diaries when I was young doesn't mean I did.
That double standard on the video really pissed me off. People, please stop being sexist. The good thing from that video? Peter got so adorably protective. The secondhand embarrassment I felt was totally worth it. Though I felt bad for him because he couldn't do anything about it.
When Stormy said she had a grandson I was like IT IS JOHN. That was not a surprise. Was it meant to be?
I was glad to see that Josh was still in the story and he had not completely just disappeared. He is her next door neighbor, after all.
Then John's letter came. And it was really cute... I was still team Peter at this point.
A major second hand awkward moment? "I don't want to have sex with you in a car." Lara Jean! Sometimes honesty and no filter is not the way to go! You guys were not about to have sex!
That game of Assassin sounds really fun. I wish I could play it with my friends but since 1. it's summer so a bunch of us live a far walk away from each other that would just mean we'd see each other less 2. I don't think they'd really want to.
Even though I really liked John, I really didn't want Peter and Lara Jean to break up! I worked to hard for this relationship and I love it! Though, if Lara Jean really didn't trust Peter I'm not sure that was good in the relationship anyway...
I felt really bad for Peter after the break up but taking the necklace back was a really dick move. That was when we really got to know John. He's such a sweet heart. I honestly wasn't rooting for wither guy more than the other. Which is weird, because I almost always have a team I know I want to win.
"Will you help me take out Genevieve?"
"It would be my honor."
*SQUEAL*
If this wasn't obvious to y'all Peter was SO jealous when they ran into each other at the nursing home. "Is this a date? Are you on a date with him?" That made me squeal, too. I don't know why jealousy turns me on so much. I'm sure if it actually happened to me it'd piss me off more than turn me on. (Though I still would be a little flattered)
It was so cute how Kitty stood up for Lara Jean against Peter #sisterbond
I just want another book.....

The last time I made a book haul was in March.. Well, crap. I have a ton more books now. So now I'm going to have to list them all. Hmph. I realize I haven't written a book review in a while! I'm SUPER behind. I'm definitely going to catch up on all my reviews soon, so, stay tuned.
Picture
The first of this vast book haul is
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Jeez, I read this book a LONG LONG  LONG time ago. That proves how far behind I am! Ugh, I'm so mad at myself for letting myself get this far behind due to laziness. This book has been super popular ever since it came out and even before it came out. It's had a lot of hype. So I actually bought it around the time it came out and tried it out... Review to come soonish.
Synopsis:
Laia is a slave.

Elias is a soldier.

Neither is free.

Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.

It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.

But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.

There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
YESSS another Sarah J. Maas book? Count me in. I already posted a review on this book so scroll down to read that. This book is amazing, Rhysand all the way (no hard feelings towards Tam, though)

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

Social Media Book Tag

5/13/2015

I'm going to start this post off by profoundly apologizing for not posting in over a month. The month of April has (had?) been a seriously busy month for me (I'm now a year older, just saying). I've had to stay up late doing homework so by the time I was done, all I wanted to do was sleep. I haven't had much time to read, so a book review has not been posted. Also, as you may know I have a rule about only reading one book at a time, so if I started one I have to finish it before starting another. Well, a month ago I started Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers and was not impressed by the first 150 pages or so. So... I may have been avoiding reading it for a while, also. Hopefully I'll motivate myself to pick it up again soon.
Surprisingly enough, this post was not made to vehemently apologize for not posting in ages. I decided that since I haven't read anything in and while and haven't ordered any new books (I'm working on it) I'm going to make a book tag post! I've been wanting to make one for a while now bt haven't been able to get around to it because a. I had a book to read b. I had a book review to write c. I had homework or d. I had other things to do. But at the moment, I don't have any of those so I was like, I haven't posted in forever so why not make a book tag post? So normally book tags are created on BookTube and made in videos. But 1. videos take forever to edit and post and 2. I'm not too good at talking to a camera. I'm much better blogging, so why not just make a tag in blog form? It gets the same point across.
Anyway, the Social Media Book Tag is a tag comparing books to some popular social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter. I'll link all my social media sites along with the book that goes with them. Feel free to follow/friend me on any one of them :).
Alright, enough of the chit chat (chit type?) Let's get started on this book tag.

Twitter- A favorite Book That Is Short

A favorite book that is short... hmm... I like a lot of short books. Also I what I consider short is what others consider long... The first thing that pops into my head after the words 'favorite short book' at the moment is *drum roll* Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally
Picture
For those of you who read my blog, you'd know that I loved Catching Jordan.  It was a fantastic read with a heart melting romance and characters you can't help but love and relate to. Guys, seriously, this is an amazing read. If you haven't read it, what are you waiting for?! READ IT! Here's a link to it on Miranda's Wattpad, but really, who doesn't want this cute book on their shelf? Plus, you can't get the rest of the series on Wattpad (at least, not Stealing Parker which is just as good)
Synopsis:

Facebook- A Book Everyone Pressured You Into Reading

Picture
The Selection by Kiera Cass
I was never planning on reading this book. It just never sounded interesting to me. But then seemingly everyone was like THE SELECTION IS SOOOOOOOO GOOD! YOU HAVE TO READ IT!
I pretty much ignored them. But then, this summer I was bored and wanted to read something, so I ordered The Selection. I'd heard the protagonist was rather annoying so I was cautious going in, but surprisingly, I found myself actually enjoying the book. Not my favorite, but it was interesting. Then I read the second and third book. Sorry, but those two, especially the third, ruined the series for me.
Synopsis:
For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself--and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Tumblr- A Book You've Read Before it Was CooL

Picture
No thought about it, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Most books now I read after they get popular and after I hear great reviews of them but the Hunger Games? I read it long before it was popular and long before there was even a movie being dicsussed (okay maybe not... I don't know when they picked up the movie rights for the book, but it wasn't being casted or written or had any hype about it yet). I remember I used to look up fan made feast scenes haha. I also remember recommending it to all my friends like, "You have to read this book! It's amazing! It's called The Hunger Games!"
Friend: "What's it about?"
Me: "It's in the future and twenty four kids are sent into this arena to kill each other and fight to the death until there is only one survivor and the whole country watches because it's for their entertainment! It's soo good! You gotta read it!"
Friend: .... *slowly backs away*

synopsis:
The nation of Panem, formed from a post-apocalyptic North America, is a country that consists of a wealthy Capitol region surrounded by 12 poorer districts. Early in its history, a rebellion led by a 13th district against the Capitol resulted in its destruction and the creation of an annual televised event known as the Hunger Games. In punishment, and as a reminder of the power and grace of the Capitol, each district must yield one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 through a lottery system to participate in the games. The 'tributes' are chosen during the annual Reaping and are forced to fight to the death, leaving only one survivor to claim victory.

When 16-year-old Katniss's young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives. , she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.

My Space (don't have one)- A Book You Can't Remember Whether or not you like it

Picture
This one took me a while to think of because I remember how I feel about books. Heck, they're placed in the order that I like them on my bookshelf, I even remember the ones in the misc. shelf. So yeah, this one took a while to think about. Finally I landed on a book that I read ages ago and I mean ages. It's called the Thirteenth Princess and it's written by Diane Zahler. Seriously, I read this when I was REALLY young. I remember most of the books I read when I was younger and how I feel about them but I don't clearly remember this one. I remember being scared about a part of it, but otherwise not much. I think I liked it... I think...
synopsis:
Zita is not an ordinary servant girl—she's the thirteenth daughter of a king who wanted only sons. When she was born, Zita's father banished her to the servants' quarters to work in the kitchens, where she can only communicate with her royal sisters in secret.

Then, after Zita's twelfth birthday, the princesses all fall mysteriously ill. The only clue is their strangely worn and tattered shoes. With the help of her friends—Breckin the stable boy, Babette the witch, and Milek the soldier—Zita follows her bewitched sisters into a magical world of endless dancing and dreams. But something more sinister is afoot—and unless Zita and her friends can break the curse, the twelve princesses will surely dance to their deaths.

A classic fairy tale with a bold twist, The Thirteenth Princess tells the unforgettable story of a magical castle, true love, spellbound princesses—and the young girl determined to save them all

InstaGram (Other Instagram)- A Beautiful Book You Would Post On Instagram

This is so hard! I have so many books with GORGEOUS covers! But out of my favorite books... I'd have to say my favorite book covers are the SHADOWHUNTER CHRONICLES (by Cassandra Clare, you know, the books I make references to in like every one of my reviews) (AND LIKE ONE OF MY FAVORITE FAVORITE FAVORITE SERIES)
Picture
Picture
Wait- what? You're saying I have to chose one? Ugh. Okay I choose. Clockwork Princess. And City of Heavenly Fire. And Clockwork Angel. And- OKAY those three are my top three favorite covers of this series, I'll stop there, okay? But I can't limit it any more. CASSIE WHY ART THOU COVERS SO GORGEOUSLY BEAUTIFUL?!
Synopsis for City of Bones:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end

Synopsis for Clockwork Angel:
Magic is dangerous; but love is more dangerous still.

In a time when Shadowhunters are barely winning the fight against the forces of darkness, one battle will change the course of history forever. Welcome to the Infernal Devices trilogy, a stunning and dangerous prequel to the New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

The year is 1878. Tessa Gray descends into London's dark supernatural underworld in search of her missing brother. She soon discovers that her only allies are the demon-slaying Shadowhunters; including Will and Jem, the mysterious boys she is attracted to. Soon they find themselves up against the Pandemonium Club, a secret organization of vampires, demons, warlocks, and humans.

Equipped with a magical army of unstoppable clockwork creatures, the Club is out to rule the British Empire, and only Tessa and her allies can stop them....

YouTube- A Book You'd Like to See Turned Into a Movie

That depends, would it be turned into a craptastic movie like City of Bones or a marvelous movie like... Harry Potter? If we're going the Harry Potter Route, I have lots and lots of books I'd like to see turned into movies. Contemporaries are especially easy to turn into movies because they're cheap and can be just as good as an action movie if you write the script right. So for this question I'm going to give two (shhh I'm not cheating) a contemporary and an action)
UGH THERE ARE SO MANY
Picture
Picture
For contemporary I'm going with the first one that pops into my head that I haven't already used or used the author and that would be Anna and the French Kiss *scratches that out* I mean To All the Boys I've Loved Before
Okay, both would be marvelous movies. If you haven't read either, I don't know where you've been because these books are flabbergastingly perfect. Seriously, Anna (by Stephanie Perkins) and To All the Boys I've Loved Before (Jenny Han) are two of my favorite contemporary novels.
These books made me laugh, want to cry because of the fabulous romance and feel very emotionally attached to the characters, as if I personally knew them. They're well written, funny, and very enjoyable. They're high up there on my recommendation list.
Synopsis for Anna:
Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris--until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all...including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?
Synopsis for To All The Boys...

Angelfall by Susan Ee
This book was great with plenty of action and plot twists. It hilarious and a great read. Seriously, I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs a book to read!  If this book was correctly made into a movie, it would definitely be a hit.
It's been six weeks since the angels of the apocalypse destroyed the world as we know it. Only pockets of humanity remain.

Savage street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night.

When angels fly away with a helpless girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back...

GoodReads- A Book You Reccomend to Everyone

Sadly I wasn't able to fit all my favorite books into this tag and I'm going to restrain myself from recommending my whole bookshelf to y'all. This is a hard choice but... A book I recomend to everyone is... Drum Roll?
.

.
OBSIDIAN BY JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT
This book was simply fantastic. The plot of the series is great, it doesn't make aliens cheesy or embarrassing rot read about and it invigoratingly new and refreshing. It's an easy read that you'll get through in one sitting if you can. The action is spot on, as is the romance and the dialogue is down right hilarious. If you haven't read this book yet, I don't know what you've been up to but this book is seriously good stuff guys. I'll love y'all forever if you read it (and like it)
Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Split Second by Kasie West
8/10 stars
I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect sequel to Pivot Point and I highly recommend all of Kasie West's books to you!
My Life With The Walter Boys by Ali Novak
9.5/10 stars
This book is one of my all time favorite contemporaries and took quite a bit of time for me to get over! After reading this I checked out Ali on Wattled and completely fell in love with her other books. I'm really hoping she finds a publisher for The Love Song! I was really into that story. I also can't wait for the sequel! I need more Cole. Most Coles I meet in fictional places are pretty awesome I mean, Cole Stewart, Cole Walter, Kol Mikaelson (though I want to dagger him for what he did to Rebekah at the mo) and others I can't remember at the moment!  GO READ THIS BOOK IT'S AMAZING!!!

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
8/10
This is a long review coming soon. I read this book in less than a day it was great.
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
8/10
fun romance, really. Though Conrad is my usually choice, the dark brooding damaged one, I preferred Jeremiah! He was such a sweet heart! This is the second Jenny Han Book I've read and I was not disappointed. Can't wait to read the next two.
Picture
The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima
8/10
Wow I've been giving a majority of things 8/10. Guess this batch of books was just a good choice. The Warrior Heir was exciting though, I could see pretty much all of the plot twists coming from many chapters away, but that's just because I know what to look for, I guess. I highly recommend this book, it might take a while to get into since the beginning is kinda confusing but read it anyway!
Picture
A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
7/10
dang it, I broke the 8/10 streak. This book had a seriously confusing beginning but I got more into it. Guys, I read it in literally one sitting. I really liked Theo, Paul was a bit more of a mystery, though I really like those too. I saw the 'big' plot twist coming at the end though so.. This series looks promising
Picture
The Selection by Kiera Cass
8/10
highly enjoyable. I didn't find America very annoying in this book although I felt embarrassed for her multiple times. I liked both boys so... Though I think she'll choose Maxon.

Book Book Book Haul :DIt’s time again… for me to show you my new books :D Some of them I’ve already read and reviewed, and some I have yet to read ;) Let’s get started.
Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout
So I kinda bought this book twice, hehe, on my kindle the day it came out and the real version. This is the second book in the Dark Elements Trilogy so if you want to find out more about this amazing series read my White Hot Kiss review, I wrote it in August.

In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken
yeah, I just posted a review on this one. And I uh, bought this one twice too. Alex, I’ve bought all of your TDM books twice, that’s how much I love your books. In the Afterlight is the last book in the Darkest Minds Trilogy, click the Darkest Minds Category. so I got up at 4 in the morning to read this book after a late night studying, let’s just keep it at I didn’t get a lot of sleep for this book and I didn’t play to well in Field Hockey that day.

Better Than Perfect by Simone Elkenes (formerly titled Wild Cards)
I’ve already read this book and the review should be coming out tomorrow. I LOVED THIS BOOK. You have to read it, but more on that tomorrow. Here’s the summery:
After getting kicked out of boarding school, bad boy Derek Fitzpatrick has no choice but to live with his ditzy stepmother while his military dad is deployed. Things quickly go from bad to worse when he finds out she plans to move them back to her childhood home in Illinois. Derek’s counting the days before he can be on his own, and the last thing he needs is to get involved with someone else’s family drama.

Ashtyn Parker knows one thing for certain—people you care about leave without a backward glance. A football scholarship would finally give her the chance to leave. So she pours everything into winning a state championship, until her boyfriend and star quarterback betrays them all by joining their rival team. Ashtyn needs a new game plan, but it requires trusting Derek—someone she barely knows, someone born to break the rules. Is she willing to put her heart on the line to try and win it all?

Split Second by Kasie West
This is the last book I’ve already read (just finished it like a few hours ago), though, I’m about to start the next one I’m going to talk to you about. So Split Second is the second book in Kasie West’s Pivot Point dualogy. It was really good. I love Kasie West. If you want to hear what I thought about Pivot Point, I read it in October (2014).

My Life with the Walter Boys by Ali Novak
I bought a lot of contemporaries this time around.
Sixteen-year old Jackie Howard knows nothing about her new guardian Katherine Walter when she moves from New York to Colorado. After discovering that Katherine has twelve boys, Jackie fears that living in the Walter house isn’t going to be easy. It’s just icing on the cake that the boys look like Abercrombie models…

Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
Yeah, she’s the one who wrote Rebel Belle. I’ve heard good reviews for this book, so I’m excited to read it!
Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It’s gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie’s estranged father—an elusive European warlock—only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it’s her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters. By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tag-along ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

No, just because it has magic doesn’t mean it’s Harry Potter, calm down.

The Princesses of Iowa by M. Molly Backes
IDK I just kept getting drawn back to this book at the bookstore so I bought it. I guess I’ll see whether or not I like it, I think it has a romance in it ? But I’m looking forward to the characterization in this book, I hear it’s good.
What does it mean to do wrong, when no one punishes you? A smart and unflinching look at friendship, the nature of entitlement, and growing up in the heartland.

Paige Sheridan has the perfect life. She’s pretty, rich, and popular, and her spot on the homecoming court is practically guaranteed. But when a night of partying ends in an it-could-have-been-so-much worse crash, everything changes. Her best friends start ignoring her, her boyfriend grows cold and distant, and her once-adoring younger sister now views her with contempt. The only bright spot is her creative writing class, led by a charismatic new teacher who encourages students to be true to themselves. But who is Paige, if not the homecoming princess everyone expects her to be? In this arresting and witty debut, a girl who was once high-school royalty must face a truth that money and status can’t fix, and choose between living the privileged life of a princess, or owning up to her mistakes and giving up everything she once held dear.

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
Yay! I’ve been wanting this book for a while now, so I finally bought it.
The Pre-Sloane Emily didn’t go to parties, she barely talked to guys, she didn’t do anything crazy. Enter Sloane, social tornado and the best kind of best friend—the one who yanks you out of your shell.

But right before what should have been an epic summer, Sloane just… disappears. No note. No calls. No texts. No Sloane. There’s just a random to-do list. On it, thirteen Sloane-selected-definitely-bizarre-tasks that Emily would never try… unless they could lead back to her best friend.

Apple Picking at Night? Okay, easy enough.

Dance until Dawn? Sure. Why not?

Kiss a Stranger? Wait… what?

Getting through Sloane’s list would mean a lot of firsts. But Emily has this whole unexpected summer ahead of her, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected) to check things off. Who knows what she’ll find?

Go Skinny Dipping? Um…

And finally…
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
I’ve heard so many great reviews about this book and I love To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, so I figured I had to buy this book.
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

This book was so good, I went into it expecting it to be a solid 7/10 stars, but I was hooked in it by like page 60. I would give this book a 9/10 stars, it was so good. Jenny Han also wrote The Summer I Turned Pretty so maybe I'll try that out sometime, wow, my To Be Read list is growing dauntingly larger every day. The first few chapters aren't really al that interesting, but if you read past it you're sure to fall in love with it. Anyway, this book is about Laura Jean. Whenever she falls in love with a boy she'll write him a love letter saying anything she wants to because she's never going to send them. She pours her heart out into the letter, puts it in an envelope, writes the address, then puts the letter in her hatbox. It helps her to get over boys, without heartbreak or anything. But, one day her letters somehow get sent, and well, her life gets complicated. It's really hard to say anything about this book that isn't really a spoiler. So I'm just going to say this, this book is so good and I highly recommend it. It's funny, cute, quirky and has an adorable romance. If you haven't read it, what are you still doing? go read it now! Here's the synopsis:

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is the story of Lara Jean, who has never openly admitted her crushes, but instead wrote each boy a letter about how she felt, sealed it, and hid it in a box under her bed. But one day Lara Jean discovers that somehow her secret box of letters has been mailed, causing all her crushes from her past to confront her about the letters: her first kiss, the boy from summer camp, even her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. As she learns to deal with her past loves face to face, Lara Jean discovers that something good may come out of these letters after all.

It's so much better than it sounds, I promise. Lara Jean is a quirky cute character, she doesn't really have any experience in the world, but that's part of what makes this story interesting. If you haven't read this book I suggest you leave now so I don't spoil you :) Here's a link if you want to buy it yourself. It's a great book, I promise.

SPOILERS FOR TO ALL THE BOYS I'VE LOVED BEFORE BELOW

I thought it was so cute how Lara Jean called Josh when she got into that accident, I thought Josh, for sure must be the guy she ends up with in the end. But then again, he is her sister's ex so.... I was also really saddened by that thought because I ended up really liking Peter. It's kind of funny how all of the three Song Girls liked Josh at some point .
So when I was really pulled into the book was when Peter came and talked to Lara Jean about her letter, I literally looked away from the book and said "awkward, awkward, awkward" over and over again. My bet was on Kitty for the person who sent her letters, and I was right. Why I thought it was Kitty was because Kitty was mad at her for 'almost' telling Josh she had a crush on him.
I was laughing so hard when Lara Jean was just like to Josh, Yeah I'm really upset but Peter and I broke up this weekend... and Josh is just like Really? Because I was talking to him this morning and he said he really liked you.
When both Peter and Lara Jeans hands were sweating though.
😂
Peter's notes were pretty funny, because they were supposed to be 'love notes' so he wrote her something like 'nice job today' for her first note.
I loved how she had to come face to face with almost all the boys who got her letters, but then Lucas was like 'I was totally honored to get this, but you know I'm gay, right?' and she's just thinking, Ugh Peter was right.
I knew Peter and Lara Jean would end up liking each other, so I was rooting for Peter pretty soon after we got to know him. It was so cute how he was helping Lara Jean make cupcakes. They just did all those cute little things together that were unneeded that hinted that they were going to like each other. When he said his mom liked her ajkfnskjvdvh. And he started driving his mom's mini van so they could give Kitty rides to school, Peter just seems like a great guy. It was entertaining how Peter thought that Josh was a tool and Josh thought Peter was a douche.
By the Angel, when Josh was Harry Potter and she was Cho Chang it was so funny how they were shouting spells at each other, then Peter got jealous and he's all like "I noticed." And I was AWWWW. I was laughing when she said "Silenco"
(This isn't actually from the book so you can get the gist of it)
*Peter says something about the spell not working*
*Lara Jean covers his mouth with her hand*
"Silenco, what were you saying?" Lol.

"Yeah you would have been a very good Moaning Myrtle."
All my notes are pretty much like "I WANT HER TO END UP WITH PETER" and "PLEASE, PLEASE END UP WITH PETER!" Yeah, I really liked Peter. I LOVED when they officially got together and were kissing in the hot tub. But then Gen had to go and ruin it by being a twat and telling her Peter was telling everyone they slept together in the hot tub WHICH HE DIDN'T. Ugh, I wanted to punch Gen in the face so badly for that. I just want to see her happy with Peter, like officially together, is that too much to ask, Jenny?
During the Christmas thing when Peter and Josh have that little show down and Margo hears that she kissed Josh, drama! Aw but then she misses Peter and I was just like GET BACK TOGETHER WITH HIM PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU!!!!!!!!
Ugh the ending killed me, I stayed up till like 1 in the morning last night reading it which was kind of awkward because my friend had fallen asleep at like 11 and we had to get up early because we had to pack up. Then all I get at the ending is Dear Peter.... like WTF is THIS?! I NEED TO SEE PETER AND LARA JEAN OFFICIALLY TOGETHER AND HAPPY AND GOING ON DATES AND GOING ON DATES AND TOGETHER. Luckily there's another book, P.S. I Still Love You, which comes out April 2015. It says that another letter guy comes back and her feelings surface for him, I'm assuming it's John, since she saw him.  BUT OMG STAY WITH PETER PLEASE!!!!
