SPOILERS BELOW FOR: THE IRON QUEEN
If you read my earlier reviews, you'll know I love Puck. So, as expected, his entrance into the book was pretty wonderful for me. He got exiled for her even after she left him for Ash. How emotional is that? Okay, so maybe it wasn't cool that he told Ash she told him she loved him and had kissed him. But seriously, all is forgiven Puck. I know some of you probably hate him, but I've always loved Puck and I always will. Nothing is going to change that. In fact, I would love an entire novel from his perspective.
When Meagan started yelling at Puck I seriously just got so pissed at her. Like I realize that he took her father away from her, kinda. But would she rather have had Tatiana get her father? No. So he was helping her and what does he get for that?
Yelled at and slapped in the face. Seriously, Meg, you already broke his heart do you really have to yell and slap? If I ever were to meet Meagan Chase I would slap her in the face for Puck. And then I'd run because of the hell that would rain down on me for it. Ash, Puck, all her knights.... Okay, so maybe I wouldn't slap her... I'd just give her a very stern talk about how she should treat her best friend better.
Okay, tell me you didn't get an extreme batch of feels when Ash became her knight, because THAT SCENE WAS EMOTIONAL. I loved it.
Rowan's death was a little quick, I thought he'd have a bigger part to play, but all in all it was good that he died.
How did you feel about the end of The Iron Queen? I knew Meagan wouldn't die, but how dramatic of en end would that be? A tragedy. I'd actually kinda like it. Don't kill me for saying that! It was kinda a sad end though, Ash being banished from the Iron Realm (even if it was for his own good) and Puck... I wish the fey could visit The Iron realm without amulets but I guess that'd just be too happy. And appearently authors are forbidden from giving us, their fans, happy endings.
SPOILERS FOR THE IRON KNIGHT BELOW
If Puck wasn't in this book it would've been a lot less entertaining. He's the one who always jokes around in the dark places so the feeling is lighter. I figured out Ariella was alive right off the bat from his dream 'you'll see me again'. 1. because you'll see me again and 2. because since Ash swore to her that he'd kill Puck to avenge her death, only she can release him from it. I also guessed the seer was Ariella. So I wasn't as shocked as the boys were to see her, though, it's natural for them to be flabbergasted that she was alive.
Okay when Ash was yelling at Puck about what he knew about loss and he yelled "MEAGAN CHASE!" I just felt so bad for him. Like Ash doesn't seem to get that Puck loved Meagan, too, and long before Ash even knew she existed. As I've said in every review of this series I do like Meagan and Ash together but I want to see Puck happy too. And I feel like he would be happier if his friend like, I don't know, thought about what he might be feeling more.
When Puck was fishing and it turned out to be a dragon.
"Oh, um. Hey." I was cracking up so hard at that.
"Goodbye, Ash. Be happy." Oh, the feels. That moment when Meagan found out that Ariella was alive and Ash was with her. You can tell she loved him because she was willing to let him go and be happy.
Grimalkin and the Wolf had the most hilarious relationship in the book. Since Grim seemed to think of the Wolf as a dog, and cats and dogs don't get along, I just found it extremely entertaining when they were insulting each other.
When Puck said his feeling was regret. I almost lost it for him. I JUST WANT HIM TO FIND A NICE GIRL AND BE HAPPY WITH HER.
Okay, my guess for who was going to die in the trial thing was Ariella and the Wolf. Because obviously Ash isn't going to die, Grimalkin just isn't going to die and Puck wouldn't die (at least I hoped) because 1. Ash is the one who's perspective we're hearing from 2. Even though we know all these characters well and it would be horrible to watch them die, I've learned from the previous books that Julie doesn't kill off the main characters 3. Since Ariella and the Wolf were just thrown in, like Ironhorse, they seem like they were written to sacrifice themselves for the quest so our main characters don't
I was close to being right, since the Wolf stayed behind (though he lived, which I liked) and Ariella sacrificed herself.
The mirrors didn't show their truest selves, it showed their worst selves. That fight was intense, though, I was sure someone was going to die in there.
"Quit playing around with my evil twin- you have your own."
When Ash and evil Puck are listing negative things about real Puck
"Hey! I'm standing right here, you two."
"I found that very therapeutic." haha
The whole wedding and life thing was so quick, I was just thinking the while time, this better be a dream. Luckily it was. Though, in the dream of the possible future, when Puck and Meagan were dancing. the feels. Literally the feels.
If Ash ever does die, not saying that I want him to, because I don't and him being old made me sad, but if Ash ever dies, a few centuries later I hope Meagan and Puck get together, Puck deserves that much. Though, I don't want Puck to live in the Iron Realm. Then he'd have to turn human.
'He glanced at Puck, who grinned and waved cheerfully.' LOL
Ash and Meagan's real reunion was pretty dang emotional.
